Scalloped Potatoes
    3 to 5 potatoes, peeled and sliced (about 2 1/2 to 3 cups)
1 2/3 cup milk
    3 garlic cloves, minced
    2 tablespoons butter
    1 teaspoon salt, optional
    1 teaspoon sugar, optional
      Pinch of pepper
  1/2 cup (4 ounces) shredded Cheddar cheese
In a medium saucepan, combine all ingredients except the cheese; bring to boil.
Pour into a greased 2-1/2-quart baking dish or 9-inch square baking pan.
Sprinkle with cheese.  Bake, uncovered at 375 °F. for 35 minutes or
until potatoes are tender.
Yield: 4 to 6 servings
